Radio Interview – did an interview this evening with Phil Williams on the Drivetime Show on Talk Radio – discussed the apparent rise in figures relating to football violence and our new book ‘Reporting For Duty’ during which I managed to explain the work relating to the new UK Police Memorial fund.
‘Reporting For Duty’ – met with Mike Lockley at the Birmingham Mail today to discuss further newspaper articles. There is a lot of interest in 1970s onwards nostalgia and social history in the West Midlands.
The ‘Birmingham Books’
‘Reporting For Duty’ – today’s special mention goes to retired West Midlands Police officer Roy Tinkler who provided some great memories in the ‘Sports & Social’ section of this book which details the history of the West Midlands Police between 1974 and 1999. Roy was an ardent footballer and cricketer for many years and played in the Force Teams. The photo is of the PAA Cup-winning team in 1988. Each copy of this book sold attracts a donation to the new UK Police Memorial fund.

Written by a Kook, about a Kook, for Kooks….
‘Highly addictive, this brilliantly conceived story really does capture the feelings of a teenager growing up in the Seventies, with only David Bowie as his salvation from the gloom and banality surrounding him. This really is a ‘must read’ for every Bowie fan, and once finished you’ll not be able to stop yourself from spreading the word !!’
‘Thoroughly enjoyed this book. As a huge Bowie fan the title and cover attracted me and the way the story mingles with Bowie in the heady Ziggy days is really good. But, the story is more than just that, an old fashioned story of the pain and joy of first loves and the seedy underground world of drugs and prostitution wonderful. A highly recommended read’
