The picture shows a police escort of a victorious Aston Villa football team in Birmingham City Centre 1982. The goal scorer of the team on the night that they won the European Cup Final was Peter Withe. Football-related violence – I spent the day in London yesterday doing a comprehensive interview for a film company who are producing a feature-length film about the effects of football-related violence particularly during the 1980s. Talked about the structure, organisation and history of hooligan groups and in particular the ‘Zulu Warriors’. I’ve worked a lot in London over the last fifteen years but always glad to get back home!
