FICTION & NON-FICTION BOOKS BY INDEPENDENT AUTHORS STEPHEN BURROWS & MICHAEL LAYTON
‘Pretty Thing’ recent reviews.’ The most enjoyable Bowie related book you’ll ever read’. ‘A great slice of 70’s nostalgia’, ‘Most enjoyable book I’ve read in a while’, ‘A clever read, well written’
I really enjoyed this story of love, loss, regret and self forgiveness set against the backdrop of the 70’s and the rise of Bowie. The two main characters, Alice and Danny were beautifully written and reminded me of how it felt to be a teenager discovering myself with its highs and lows. I Ioved the sections which switched from the fictional(?) characters to fly- on-the wall periods with Bowie and how Danny was brought into this world.
The protagonist,Danny, is fifteen when Ziggy lands on earth. I was fourteen, and going through very similar sexual awakenings, and have loved Bowie ever since. Fortunately, for me we came from different backgrounds, but I loved the story- both the ecstatic and the sad! Brought back so many memories. Yes, most enjoyable book I’ve read a quite a while.
A clever read, well written, strong characters and a great flashback to the days of glam rock and growing up in the 70’s would recommend to all Bowie fans
Highly addictive, this brilliantly conceived story really does capture the feelings of a teenager growing up in the Seventies, with only David Bowie as his salvation from the gloom and banality surrounding him. This really is a ‘must read’ for every Bowie fan, and once finished you’ll not be able to stop yourself from spreading the word !!
